Description

Undescribed trans-Andean eartheater from Colombia's Río Sinú, likely belonging to the mouthbrooding steindachneri "red hump" complex rather than true Geophagus. Golden-bronze body densely spangled with iridescent blue-green, dominant males developing a pronounced nuchal hump. Semi-aggressive — best kept as a multi-male group or single male with a harem.
