From cichlidae.com "A brown member of the genus with a longitudinal band not (or only faintly) visible in adulthood, as for Telmatochromis dhonti, but with a lower mouth gape. Jaws usually isognathous, but varying from slightly prognathous to retrognathous, as in T. vittatus. Teeth tricuspid in the inner rows, as in lined species." "Size: Almost ten centimeters total length in males, with females about 20% smaller."
