Species Profile:  Haplochromis sp. “thick skin”

Description

F1 from Ssese Island - looks like the common “thick skin or 44” but with an orange/red patch behind the operculum. Beta males can turn a stunning black with blue iridescence. Intra-specific aggression is obvious in both a species-only tank and when kept with other species. Insectivore that thrives on an omnivorous diet.
