Species Profile:  Astatotilapia nubila

Description

A relatively common haplochromine endemic to the Lake Victoria basin but not found in the lake itself. It inhabits shallow inshore areas close to vegetation. Feeds on insects and small crustaceans. It's a small, primarily black fish. Easy to keep and breed. It has quite a few forms that make it both interesting to hobbyists and interesting to scientists.
