Species Profile:  Betta pi

Description

Betta pi is native to Thailand and Malaysia. Found in shaded peat-forest blackwater swamps and creeks with dense leaf litter, roots, and plants. It is a paternal mouthbrooder that incubates from 10 to 14 days however can go up to 3 weeks. While it prefers blackwater conditions it is adaptable but prefers softer acidic water. Pairs can be housed in a 20 gallon tank, while groups should be housed in a 55 gallon tank or larger. Pairs should be given cover such as caves and plants.
