Betta waseri is native to the eastern region of mainland Malaysia. It is a blackwater paternal mouthbrooder that incubates from 14 to 21 days. Water conditions are not critical but prefers softer acidic water. Pairs can be housed in a 20 gallon tank, while groups should be housed in a 55 gallon tank or larger. Pairs should be given cover such as caves and plants.
