A Goodeid native to the Upper Rio Mezquital below El Salto Falls along the Amado Nervo spring system in Mexico. It is a livebearer inhabiting springs. It prefers cool to warm, hard, slow moving water and is an omnivore feeding primarily on invertebrates along with some algae and detritus.
