Common Name: Father Stroh's Mouthbrooder
Description: Betta strohi is a mouthbrooding Betta endemic to the blackwater streams of Borneo, Indonesia. It is a member of the Betta foerschi species complex with some debate as to its differentiation from Betta foerschi. It is unique in that it displays gold or red-gold opercular bars on its cheeks and an eye line that runs directly through the eye rather than below. It requires true blackwater setups to be at its best in the aquarium. It prefers a carnivorous diet.
