Description: A subtropical anabantid native to a wide distribution in China extending south into Viet Nam. It is a cool water tolerant fish which does well in unheated tanks. Males are very aggressive toward one another.

Acquired a group of 8 young fish at a monthly Norwalk Aquarium Society meeting in late 2025. Kept them in the cool part of my basement for the winter and spring, putting them outside in a 100g summer tub in 2026.

Species Spawned: Yes
Bubble nests keep appearing and it looks like they've spawned but unfortunately frogs are established in the tub and destroying the bubble nests. Need to get the frogs OUT.
