Year Acquired:   2026

Acquired two F1 pairs from Amazonia Tropical Fish at Aquashella NJ. From Amazonia Tropical Fish Website:
Tank Size: A 20-gallon “long” aquarium is the minimum for a pair. A larger tank is required for a harem or community setup.
Water Conditions: Crucial. This species requires soft, acidic water with a pH between 5.0 and 6.5 to thrive.
Tank Setup: A complex environment is mandatory. Provide a sandy substrate, numerous hiding places using driftwood, caves, and catappa leaves (leaf litter).
Diet: Primarily carnivorous. Thrives on a varied diet of live and frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and blackworms. High-quality pellets can be offered but should not be the staple.
Tank Mates: Best kept as a pair or a small harem (one male, multiple females). Suitable tank mates include small, peaceful dither fish like pencilfish or chili rasboras that occupy the upper water column.
