Endangered cichlid endemic to Lake Victoria. Both males and females develop dark bodies while males are more intense with a deep 'pitch black' with red edges on fins.

Not difficult. Typical 'hap' mouthbrooders. A well fed mixed sex group inevitably leads to females carrying eggs.
