From cichlidae.com "A brown member of the genus with a longitudinal band not (or only faintly) visible in adulthood, as for Telmatochromis dhonti, but with a lower mouth gape. Jaws usually isognathous, but varying from slightly prognathous to retrognathous, as in T. vittatus. Teeth tricuspid in the inner rows, as in lined species." "Size: Almost ten centimeters total length in males, with females about 20% smaller."
Category: Cichlids

Distribution: Kinyamkolo (Mpulungu) and Mbity Rocks, Lake Tanganyika, Zambia
Genetic Line: Aquarium Strain
Line Traits: Pronounced nuchal hump
Year Acquired: 2018
I have kept and bred this fish a couple of times. Males have a pretty nasty disposition, and each sex is belligerent to tankmates once eggs are laid and at the fry stage.
Species Spawned: Yes
Listed as substrate spawners but my experience is they prefer caves or tight structures. Courting is typical of most cichlids and easy to observe.
Have Reared Fry? Yes
Nothing special needed. Feed the normal fry foods - artemia, finely crushed flakes, etc.
