Aquarist Notes

Collection Point:   Chaitika

Genetic Line:   F1 First Generation

Line Traits:   Gold

Year Acquired:   2024

Acquired of 4 sub-adults from Blue Chip Aquatics who bred a wild caught group. Turned out to be 1 female and 3 males. A pair established which have spawned several times in the last year. I recently added 3 wild caught adults from Blue Chip Aquatics and now have 2 pairs: one F0 and the original F1.

Species Spawned:   Yes

Typical spawning in 'calvus cave' with female and male vigorously defending the cave. Both have attacked my hand when reaching into the tank in front of the cave. Female retreats to the cave to defend young when perceived threats get close.

Have Reared Fry?   Yes

I positioned the calvus cave so that I could shine a flashlight into the cave to observe eggs and fry. Once eggs hatched I removed the cave and put it into a separate tank for rearing. Sometimes the female comes along, sometimes not. Either way it seems to work out fine. Raised fry on BBS.
