Aquarist Notes

Collection Point:   Mahakam

Genetic Line:   F1 First Generation

Year Acquired:   2025

Acquired a young pair from Greg Greggory at a Pioneer Valley Aquarium Society swap meet. Adults were very shy and hid for most of the 1st month in a heavily planted soft water tank. After a while only the female came out to eat and it turned out the male was carrying and laying low for a couple of weeks. When I finally saw him again there were fry seen in the tank.

Species Spawned:   Yes

Spawned within the 1st month I had them male disappeared for 2 weeks. Didn’t see him again until he released the fry. I had been ‘dosing’ BBS daily just in case there were fry. They came out of the java moss about a week later. Parents seem to be ok with leaving the fry alone so keeping them together for now.

Have Reared Fry?   Yes

Fry stayed with the parents and have grown well feeding on BBS and Dr Bassler's micro-granule fry food. They are now ~1/2" to 3/4"

Young fish available?   Yes
