Common Name: Big-eyed Mouthbrooder
As the common name suggests, this cichlid has rather large eyes. Females, like many cichlid species, are rather drab (silver to light brown) in color. Males are more colorful. They're sand sifting mouth brooders (maternal). Generally considered aggressive, especially with conspecifics. Not a large species, ~5 inches for both sexes. In fact, the body shape is quite similar to many geophagus species.
