Description

Piscivore cichlid endemic to Lake Tanganyika. Characterized by a highly compressed body (hence its name) making it well suited to hunting small fish found in tight spaces between rocks. Occurs in various color patterns.

Acquired wild breeding pair from Alan Rickers.

Species Spawned:   Yes

Spawns eagerly and regularly. Pair is older but continues to spawn vigorously.

Have Reared Fry?   Yes

Three spawns can stay in a 40g breeder tank with the parents before they stop spawning. Parents are very protective of the fry, especially the male.
