Category: Cichlids
Global Region: Africa
Distribution: Lake Tanganyika
Genetic Line: Aquarium Strain
Year Acquired: 2020
Species Spawned: Yes
Speciosus have fewer eggs in each spawn. If a mate dies and then another male or female is offered to the parent, males can be fairly tolerant of the new female and often pair quickly if there are sufficient hiding places at the beginning. This is not the case with other shell dwellers I've worked with.
Have Reared Fry? Yes
Fry grow quickly for such a small fish. Parents will often not spawn until the older batch of fry are removed or move off in bigger tanks.
Young fish available? Yes
