Photo of aquarist's species:
Genetic Line: Aquarium Strain
Year Acquired: 2022
Acquired a group of 10+ at a club auction a few years back and they have continued to reproduce and grow as a colony since. I sometimes put them with eggs that I'm artificially hatching as they will eat the fungus and infertile eggs but otherwise don't harm fertile eggs. While they prefer hard water I have kept them fine in softer water. They do need calcium though.
Species Spawned: Yes
They are nonstop machines. As long as they don't have predators around they do fine. Currently I have a group with Psuedomugil luminatus and they seem to do well together with plenty of hiding places. I've had them succeed even in tanks with dwarf cichlids provided there are good hiding places such as java moss.
Have Reared Fry? Yes
I occassionally throw some shrimp food in the tank but they seem to do fine without feeding, feeding on the detritus in my planted planted tanks.
Young fish available? Yes
