Species Profile: Gymnogeophagus balzanii

Description:   Gymnogeophagus balzanii is perhaps the most well known member of the Gymnogeophagus genus. It is a majestic and relatively peaceful cichlid, although it shows conspecific aggression toward other males. Can handle a wide range of temperatures and will do best with a cool winter season.

Acquired an adult pair at the Fall NECA auction and a group of 4 young fish from The Wet Spot. Keeping them in the cool part of my basement for the winter months. Temperatures in the low 60s.
