Aquarist Notes

Genetic Line:   Aquarium Strain

Line Traits:   Silver

Year Acquired:   2021

I have mostly Silver strain but do have one male Veil Tail German Blue Blusher. He has paired with a Silver female. I currently am growing out the first successful spawn. I'll be interested to see how they grow out because the male is impressive.
I have six adult silvers in a 75 gallon Northern Peru Amazon River biotope. The pair mentioned above is in a 20 g high with gravel, wood, rock and a breeding slate. This tank is moderately lit and stays at around 75 degrees.

Spawning notes:

Species Spawned:   Yes

Spawning in a 20H. Pair regularly spawns on spawning slate. Tank is unheated in a heated room. Tank varies from 70-80 degrees throughout the year. Other pieces of the set up: Gravel, piece of wood, medium sized stone, small internal filter, moderately lit.

Have Reared Fry?   Yes

Once eggs are spawned onto slate, I remove the slate after a few hours to a 10 gallon, bare bottom tank with heater (77 degrees), sponge filter, moderate light. I feed baby brine and powdered food, 2 times per day. Tank is on my overflow system and I do a 20% change each day.
