Description: Open water shoal 'Cyp' cichlid species endemic to Lake Tanganyika. Well established in the aquarium hobby. Often kept with rock dwelling species from the same lake, as the Cyps occupy the upper region of the tank.

I net a holding female out of its tank at night using a red flashlight, put it in an in-tank breeder box with airstone until it releases its young, then I tip the breeder box to allow the female to return to its group.
