Species Profile: Tucanoichthys tucano

Common Name:   Tucano tetra

Description:   Tucano Tetras (Tucanoichthys tucano) are one of the tiniest and rarest tetras in the aquarium hobby, native to a very limited area in Brazil’s Rio Uaupés basin. Due to their size (barely 2 cm), Tucano Tetras are perfect for nano aquariums but because of their limited natural range, they’re rarely seen in the trade and considered a collector’s fish.
